About Course
Educational science is the field that studies how people learn, how teachers can make that learning easier, and for what purposes a society organizes education. Educational Sciences Essentials is a video series that covers the Introduction to Educational Science course in twelve units and twenty-four episodes, structured as a one-semester course. Starting from the fundamental concepts of education, the series covers the social, psychological, philosophical, political, economic and historical foundations of education, research methods in educational science, the structure of the Turkish education system, the teaching profession, teacher education and distance education within a coherent framework.
Each episode presents its topic with the clarity of a well-structured classroom lecture. Concepts are defined, illustrated with examples from everyday life, and each episode concludes with a concise, memorable summary. This allows you to follow the content with ease, whether you are watching on the go, at home or with subtitles in another language.
Why Does Introduction to Educational Science Matter?
In everyday language, concepts such as education, learning, teaching and instruction are often used interchangeably. In educational science, however, each has its own clear meaning. A sound grasp of these concepts makes all professional teaching courses easier to follow. For this reason, introduction to educational science is regarded as one of the first and most fundamental courses for prospective teachers.
Education is not limited to school. A student continuously learns from family, friends, the workplace and the mass media as well. Educational science approaches this broad process systematically and explains how education shapes the individual, society and the economy. Those interested in the importance and goals of education worldwide may refer to UNESCO's work in education .
Consider an everyday example. Two students who listen to the same lesson from the same teacher in the same classroom may leave having learned different things. Educational science examines where this difference comes from, how learning takes place and how the teacher can be more effective in this process.
Structure of the Educational Sciences Essentials Series
The series consists of twelve units and twenty-four episodes; each unit is covered in two episodes. The first unit deals with the fundamental concepts of education. The next five units examine the social, psychological, philosophical, political and economic foundations of education, and the seventh unit covers its historical foundations. The eighth unit is devoted to research methods in educational science and the ninth to the structure and functioning of the Turkish education system. The last three units cover the teaching profession, teacher education and distance education.
Each lesson page contains the episode's main video and a detailed lesson text below it. The lesson text includes what you will learn in the episode, a summary of the topic and the key concepts. This allows you to reinforce the topic by reading after watching the video and to return to the text when reviewing. The main videos are also published on our YouTube channel, and the full series is available on our YouTube channel whenever you like.

Release Schedule and How to Watch the Series
Starting on Monday, 14 September 2026, the Educational Sciences Essentials series adds a new episode every Monday. Each new episode is first published on our YouTube channel and then added to this page as a lesson.
Before each episode is released, a short preview video is shared on our channel. On Monday, the episode's main video goes live and takes its place on this page together with its lesson text. Subscribers to our channel are among the first to watch each new episode. All published episodes can be followed on this page, unit by unit and in order.
Before You Start Watching
We recommend watching the episodes in order, because each episode builds on the previous one. Without the fundamental concepts, the foundations of education are difficult to grasp; without the foundations, the education system and the teaching profession cannot be viewed as a whole. By the end of the series, you will be able to view education as an interconnected system linking the individual, society and the teacher.
The course language is Turkish; it is accessible worldwide with automatic English AI audio dubbing on YouTube.
